Prof. Serap Utaş, MD

Dr. Utaş graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1984. In 1988 she joined Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, where she completed her specialist training at the Department of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases in 1991. In 1990 she worked in the Dermato-Allergy and Occupational Dermatoses Unit at Amsterdam Free University Faculty of Medicine. Her academic appointments at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine followed in 1992 (Assistant Professor), 1995 (Associate Professor) and 2001 (Professor). She remained there until 2012, when she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. She is a member of the Turkish Dermatology Association, the Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Association, the Pediatric Dermatology Association, the Europen Society of Pediatric Dermatology, the Europen Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the Dermatocerrahi Association, the Dermatoimmünoloji Association and the Kayseri Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Association. Her published work includes papers on rosacea, including the relationship between Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment and rosacea severity and eye findings in rosacea, as well as studies on psoriasis, photochemotherapy and a range of case reports.

Clinical focus

Dr. Utaş sees adults and children with a broad range of inflammatory and immune-related skin conditions. Her areas of expertise include rosacea, acne, psoriasis, eczema, and urticaria, including pediatric urticaria. She also evaluates and treats sexually transmitted diseases and genital warts.

A second strand of her practice concerns pigmentary and cosmetic concerns. This includes vitiligo treatment, treatment of other pigment disorders and birthmarks, hair loss treatment, and cosmetic dermatology procedures. Where clinically appropriate, she uses cryotherapy and platelet-rich plasma applications. Treatment plans are tailored to the individual skin, hair or nail concern after clinical assessment.

Dr. Utaş consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit.
