Prof. Dr. Rana Karayalçın

Prof. Dr. Rana Karayalçın is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics at Acibadem Ankara Hospital in Ankara, Turkey. Her clinical work covers urogynecology, menopause care, the treatment of sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction, endometriosis, and obstetric care including pregnancy monitoring and delivery. Dr. Karayalçın graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1987 and completed her specialty training in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Gynecology Training and Research Hospital in 1996. She became an Associate Professor at the same hospital in 2011. Her training abroad began in 1991–1992 at the Queen Elisabeth Maternity and Women’s Hospital Birmingham Infertility and Laparoscopic Surgery Unit. In 1995 she was a visiting fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Gynecologic Oncology Service, Department of Surgery, and in 1996 she held visiting fellowships at The New York Hospital- Cornell Medical Center, in The Center for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility and in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In 1999 she worked in the Laparoscopic Surgery Unit of Groupe Hospitalier Cochin Asistance Hopitaux Publique de Paris. She is a member of the Turkish Gynecology and Obstetrics Association, the Gynecological Endoscopy Association, the Turkısh Society of Reproductive Medicine and the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy. Her published research includes work on office hysteroscopy before IVF, emergency peripartum hysterectomy, perioperative morbidity of abdominal, vaginal and total laparoscopic hysterectomy, and episiotomy repair techniques.

In gynecology, Dr. Karayalçın’s areas of expertise include urogynecology and the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain and Bartholin cysts.
