Muhammet Beyazal, MD

Muhammet Beyazal, MD is an ophthalmologist who sees patients at Acibadem Atakent Hospital and Acibadem International Hospital in İstanbul. He has worked in medicine for more than 26 years. His practice covers cataract, keratoconus and glaucoma, refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, strabismus and blepharitis, as well as smart lens procedures.

Dr. Beyazal graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2000 and completed his specialty training at Prof. Dr. N. Reşat Belger Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital Department of Ophthalmology in 2005. From 2000 to 2005 he worked at Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital, followed by a period at Private Anatolia Eye Center from 2005 to 2006. He then worked at Özel Yenibosna Safa Hospital from 2006 to 2025 and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2023. He is a member of the Türk Oftalmoloji Association and the Türkiye Cumhuriyetleri Oftalmoloji Association.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Beyazal’s work concerns conditions that affect vision over time. He assesses and treats cataract, in which the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, and glaucoma, a condition that can damage the optic nerve and is usually monitored with regular examinations. He also manages keratoconus, a progressive change in the shape of the cornea, and blepharitis, an inflammation of the eyelid margins. For patients with cataract or certain refractive errors, smart lens procedures may be discussed after a detailed eye examination, and whether such an approach is appropriate depends on the individual findings.

Refractive errors form another area of his practice. Dr. Beyazal evaluates and treats myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness) and astigmatism. He also sees patients with strabismus, a misalignment of the eyes, and discusses the options that are relevant to the patient’s age, examination results and symptoms. Treatment recommendations are made only after the eyes have been examined in person or, where appropriate, after a review of existing records.

How Dr. Beyazal works with international patients

Dr. Beyazal consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example previous eye examination reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before travelling, although a full assessment of the eyes generally requires an in-person examination.
